Kona Camp

Service Description

Join in on high volume training weeks in the build up to the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Situated at Torvizcon, in the Sierra Nevada mountains, (where the legendary Norwegian team train), you will be guaranteed to benefit from the hard climbs, altitude and hot weather. The training weeks will have a bike and swim focus, with some quality (high intensity) run and brick sessions. Camps will take place in July and August during which access to the 25m pool is possible. The temperatures during these months is high, with occasional days reaching over 45 degrees centigrade, and 29 degrees centigrade at night, even at the houses elevation of 700m above sea level. Expect heat adaptation to take place after about 10 days for those looking to gain this extra advantage. It is advised to train during the early months of September in cooler climes, in order to recover before travelling out to the big Island later in the month. A weeks training will typically include: 20km of swimming 500km of cycling 50km of running Plenty of downtime and recovery Eat. Sleep. Train. Repeat.
